In the era of climate change and the uncertain world economic situation, a focus on our neighborhoods is crucial. The cooperation between the government, municipalities and private sector has never been more important. How do we create places where people are happy to build their lives? What are the pragmatic solutions for the cities of tomorrow? Which challenges face the architects and urban planners in the race for carbon zero real estate? These are just some of the questions we will seek answers to during the Urban Land Institute Poland Conference: REINVENTING NEIGBOURHOODS, which will be held on June 8-9, 2022, at the Raffles Europejski Hotel in Warsaw.
International and local real estate leaders from both private enterprises and public sectors will discuss the most pressing issues related to the built environment. - We have invited speakers from around the world to talk about how cities and the real estate industry should respond to the climate changes and the uncertain economic situation. We need to act together, businesses and municipalities, hand in hand for our neighborhoods - says Soren Rodian Olsen, Managing Director of Logicenters at NREP and Chair of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Poland.
On the first day of the conference, participants will join the Product Council’s Day – exclusive forums for ULI members only, related to urban living and residential, mixed-use and destination projects, as well as urban logistics and retail. Afterwards, Mark T. Hoffmann, Crime- & Intelligence Analyst, will give the inaugural lecture at the gala dinner. Cybersecurity remains an important topic in today’s business and 90% of cyberattacks are caused by a human error– but there is something that can be done about it.
How do we create neighbourhoods that are inclusive, diverse and lively? Marco Dall'Orso, outstanding urban regeneration expert, will tackle this important topic in his opening keynote presentation. Another special guest, who will honor with her presence Poland Annual Conference 2021: REINVENTING NEIGBOURHOODS, will be Jens Krammer Mikkelsen, Director of Urban Development at NREP and former Lord Mayor of Copenhagen. During the conference, he will give a keynote presentation “From Vision to Reality” – the turnaround of the Danish capital”.
Ron Bakker, Founding Partner of London-based architecture firm, PLP Architecture will give an overview of the considerations for deciding between retrofitting/repurposing existing buildings and building new buildings. At the same time, he will emphasize the need to also build new, taking wellbeing and health of the users into account, and not only focusing on decarbonization.
The conference will also feature 3 panel discussions, where the experts will discuss the future of the CEE region in terms of the carbon zero challenge, Capital Markets with the current challenges that they are facing, and the collaboration between the government, the municipalities and the private sector. during her closing keynote, Alice Charles, the lead for Urban Transformation at the World Economic Forum will look at the key global trends impacting the future of our cities, the transition that cities will undergo and how investors can leverage the opportunities created.
